“the overall aim of the programmes is to develop a cadre of trained health professionals with adequate knowleddge, appropriate attitudes and applicable skill-sets to achieve the following:

1. lead and demonstrate a commitment to community-based Public Health principles including the processes involved in engaging community partners in assessing needs, planning and implementing programmes, and evaluating those programmes with public health research teams in Universities and other research insitutions.
2. Aniticipate and respond to the public health related needs of a community, population, or other stakholder  group by utilizing sound epidemiologic and statistical approaches to identifying, collecting, validating and analyzing relevant data regarding health status, health risks and behhaviousrs, environmental facctors, health resources and policies that affect community.
3. Formulate and effectively communicate community health priorities based upon community data and establised theories or models of health for Public Health programmes, and describe approaches to successful grantsmanship.
4. Serve as a mentor and leader to the public health workforce in developing implementing, and evaluating Public Health programmes and applying current Public Health science to pratice.
5. Evaluate political and ethical aspects of public health practice, and contribute as a leader to political and ethical processes that support quality public health principles
6. Understand mechanisms to mobilize the broad public health community in response to unanticipated emerging public healtlh disasters or crises.
